NBA Awards EEO Scholarships

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association (NBA) has awarded a $2,000.00 scholarship to three students with aspirations to work in broadcasting upon graduation:

Alexis Forney currently attends Wayne State College, pursuing a degree in Electronic Media. Following her anticipated graduation in May 2029, she plans to build a career as a television anchor.

Lexi Johnson is pursuing a major in Agriculture Communications and Marketing at Fort Hays State University.  Following her expected 2028 graduation, Lexi plans to pursue a radio career informing and advocating for agriculture.

Lucia Mendez is pursuing a dual major in Broadcasting and Journalism at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Following her anticipated graduation in May 2027, she aspires to become a travel broadcaster or videographer.

This unique scholarship program is supported by participating NBA member Station Employment Units (SEUs), who fund and promote the program, and then review and score the qualified applications.  All SEU scores are then averaged, with the top three scoring applicants each awarded a scholarship.

NBAF Chairperson Mark Jensen, President KNLV AM/FM – Ord, said: “I would like to congratulate our scholarship recipients; these students are not only celebrated for their past academic successes but also encouraged to look towards the future with optimism and determination. To the recipients, the achievement of earning an NBAF scholarship is more than just a reward; it serves as a helping hand toward the promising opportunities that await you in this industry. While celebrating this academic milestone, it’s important to remember the vital role that your hard work and dedication have played in reaching your future goals.”
