Students from the University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Communication earned a record 23 awards at the 2026 Midwest Journalism Conference and Eric Sevareid Awards, held last month in St. Paul, Minnesota, and added two more honors at the 2026 Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts in Las Vegas. The wins span audio, television, podcasting, and social media work produced by School of Communication students over the past academic year.
MavRadio.FM, UNO’s student-run radio station, brought home 14 awards from the Eric Sevareid competition, including eight First Place finishes. UNO TV’s student journalists earned an additional nine awards across categories ranging from broadcast writing and investigative reporting to evening newscast and social media.
