WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Produce and deliver agriculture stories, interviews, market information and features for radio, web and digital platforms.
- Interview farmers, ranchers, commodity leaders, ag businesses, industry experts and other newsmakers.
- Cover farm shows, conventions, meetings, fairs, field days and agricultural events across Kansas.
- Develop original story ideas and trusted relationships throughout the Kansas agriculture community.
- Provide live and recorded reports from the studio and the field.
NEWS? IT’S AN OPPORTUNITY – NOT A REQUIREMENT
For the right candidate with an interest in news, the position can also include local and statewide reporting for 580 WIBW and the Kansas Information Network. But agriculture is the heart of this job.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A genuine passion for radio, storytelling and connecting with people.
- An agricultural background or connection – farm or ranch experience, ag education, FFA/4-H, ag business, agricultural communications or similar experience.
- Someone curious, personable and comfortable talking with people from the farm gate to the boardroom.
- A self-starter who wants to find stories, build relationships and become part of the Kansas agriculture community.
- Broadcasting experience or a related degree is welcome, but not required. Potential, work ethic, personality and passion matter.
