Broadcast Careers: KMTV, Omaha - Investigative Producer
Primary Purpose
KMTV, The Scripps CBS Station in Omaha, NE is searching for an Investigative Producer.
The Investigative Producer will be responsible for researching, writing, editing, producing and gathering content for investigative stories across all Scripps platforms. Will work closely with management, editorial staff and reporters to produce compelling stories.
Key Activities
Work as an off camera reporter. Able to assist on-air reporters, but also lead investigations.
Research, develop, execute and write short, medium and long form investigative stories.
Contribute story ideas and help shape editorial direction.
Collaborate with editors, reporters and producers across multiple platforms.
Work as a field producer conducting field interviews and assisting with live field coverage.
Make effective use of social media and other social sources to generate and promote stories.
Work with Sr. Producer on long term editorial planning.
Adheres to Code of Ethics and Editorial Standards and Practices of the Company.
Meets established deadlines.
Travel and manage field logistics and production.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience/Certifications
College degree required.
1-2 years of investigative producing experience a plus.
Skills & Abilities
Must be familiar with national public access laws, legal guidelines and ethical standards.
Exceptional writer with strong content analysis skills.
Successful candidate will be a team player who works well in a collaborative environment.
Must be an idea person who is also highly organized, adept at multi-taskng and works well under deadline pressure.
Strong problem solving and analytic skills.
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
