The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking a video producer for its agricultural media unit in support of its weekly agricultural news program called Market Journal which airs on Nebraska Public television (NET), RFD-TV, and The Rural Channel (Canada). This position serves as the producer of the Market Journal television program in coordination with the host. Conducts interviews of faculty, staff, administrators, policy makers, subject matter experts and industry representatives from the state, the US and Internationally. Position produces both studio and field segments, filling in for host as needed.

Description of Work:

Responsible for all assigned video, television, radio, and audio production projects from concept development to production and distribution, working in cooperation with clients and/or stakeholders to develop the goal, creative vision, program ideas, program proposals and narratives, aesthetics, budgets, production plans, and distribution methods. Duties will include conceptualizing design development of electronic video/audio materials including but not limited to scriptwriting, television production, hosting, video shooting, graphics production and other duties of video production. Includes work in multi-media, digital video production, html skills and real time web-streaming knowledge. Uses sophisticated software programs to create materials for broadcast and the web. Conducts interviews of faculty, staff, administrators, policy makers, subject matter experts and industry representatives from the state, the US and Internationally. Position utilizes an understanding and skill in the use of digital video and audio, html coding, video streaming, journalism, agriculture and the mission of the land-grant university. The position is often directly involved in video production and marketing of products.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors’ degree in journalism, video production, communication or related field plus two (2) years’ experience producing video (writing, shooting, lighting, editing) and audio (writing, recording, editing) for distribution via broadcast or the internet. Knowledge of radio and video news writing, reporting and production, professional audio and video production. Knowledge of professional media software (Final Cut, Motion, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and/or Audition). Must be able to work well with people and have strong leadership, management, oral and written communication skills. Time management skills needed. Must be a team player. Demonstrated research skills, project management experience and willingness to work in a team. Independent thought and decision making skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will have a Bachelors’ degree in Agricultural Journalism and/or MS degree in journalism or related field. Experienced with video production (writing, shooting, lighting, editing) for broadcast news, an agricultural news program, or and agricultural communications organization. Knowledge of agriculture and agricultural issues; website management including HTML and CSS; email distribution systems and social media management; live-streaming video over the internet.

 

Posted Salary:

$43,883/yr minimum
