WOWT is accepting applications for a full-time Broadcast Information Technologist

The position will support broadcast IT operations including, but not limited to, IT hardware setup and deployment, software and user support, record keeping, troubleshooting, purchase and maintenance of hardware and software. The position must assist the Engineering Department Management in insuring that the station’s I.T. operations are secure and meet or exceed corporate standards at all times. 

The BIT Engineer will analyzes, plans, designs, and/or installs new computer systems and other consumer electronic/digital devices as required.  Suggests, anticipates and implements new technology and renders its support. Provides “help desk” service to staff, clientele and the public in a timely manner. Maintains network infrastructure and operating systems on multiple platforms in the LAN and WAN.  Support and management of VM servers and their related hardware. Performs regular maintenance of broadcasting and computing equipment, as well as review and maintain their structure and related materials to assure they are in working order. Troubleshooting/repairing broadcasting equipment as well as computers and printers when they break down or malfunction. Will work to provide IT links between the studio, transmitters, satellites and other points. Work with digital RF wireless networks, fiber optic, VOIP and related telecommunication systems. If transmission is from an outside location, preparation, configuration and storage of computing resources. Will work with Department Head’s approval, order computer equipment on Purchase Order forms, and, if the computer equipment is available nearby, purchase and pick up from a local vendor. Submit to the BIT Supervisor a daily brief on projects done, as well as update any other project status lists and reports as required. Coordinate with supervisor and engineers to get outside support if necessary. The broadcast facility’s I.T. systems are maintained to provide reliable operation. Maintaining system security is a key duty. Instrumental on-site support of remote connected work sites of the organization, including support of employees who work from home. Position will cross train with other Engineering functions such as Building Services, Studio Engineering and Transmitter Engineering and Perform occasional duties in those areas as needed. Degree, training, or experience in the computer industry. Knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems, VM systems, Mac Computers, Telephone and VOIP interfacing, LAN layout, and maintenance, as well as Knowledge of data switches, routers, and storage devices is necessary. Familiarity with Business software applications such as Microsoft 365, Creative applications such as video editing software, Broadcast industry applications such as Traffic systems, etc. is extremely beneficial.
