The Nebraska State Emergency Communications Committee (SECC) is seeking a new Radio Chair to join the committee effective January 1, 2022.
The SECC meets electronically once each quarter. The Radio Chair’s role is to bring the radio station perspective to the overall EAS conversation within the SECC. They will be a resource for interaction with the radio community and as such, ideally would be in a CE or management role. The Radio Chair, like all committee members, will need to keep up on the continual changes in EAS regulations and procedures. This is easily accomplished through reading newsletters from SBE, Barry Mishkind’s EAS list and the FCC Daily Report. Nebraska has the simplest monitoring source matrix in all of EAS so unless there are changes in the alert originators, there should not be any monitoring source maintenance and there is no “daisy chain” to maintain, either.
Interested parties should email a brief letter outlining their interest along with their current resume to SECC Chairman Rod Zeigler at email@example.com by October 1, 2021.
