NIELSEN REPORT: THE POWER OF BROADCASTING IN NEBRASKA

NEMA & NSP TO ISSUE RWT'S

The following information was provided by State Emergency Communications Committee (SECC) Chairman Rod Zeigler on 12/14/17:

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) are now both capable of sending alerts vial the IPAWS CAP system.

To test these capabilities NSP will be originating a few Required Weekly Tests (RWT) at random times after the first of the year.

These tests should be received and logged by your EAS equipment. The Nebraska State Emergency Communications Committee (SECC) would appreciate your feedback regarding these tests. Like all RWT's these are not forwarded and do not interrupt normal programming, all we need to know is when you received them.

Your informal report can be made to the Nebraska EAS Yahoo group if you are a member. If you are not a member you are invited to join by going to http://www.ne-eas.org/ and entering your e-mail address in the space provided in the upper left hand corner of the home page. This will include you in a number of ongoing discussions regarding many EAS issues in Nebraska.  You may also contact Rod Zeigler by e-mail at rzeigler@krvn.com or phone at 308-324-2371 ext 1007.

The NSP and NEMA expect to start regular RWT's sometime in the future and will also be originating our Required Monthly Test's (RMT) occasionally as well.

The SECC expects to roll out a new State EAS Plan sometime in March after all of the requisite approvals are received from the required parties. More information will be released at that time.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Nebraska State Emergency Communications Committee.
